Bayfield, WI (NNCNOW.com) --- The U.S. Coast Guard Ice breaker will begin breaking ice next week so the Madeline Island Ferry can begin operating.
The Coast Guard has been asked to conduct the ice breaking operations in the South Channel of the Chequamegon Bay.
The ice breaking will not disturb the ice in the North or West Channel and will not proceed north of Bayfield, WI or the Madeline Island Ferry Dock.
Anglers are being asked to remove their ice shacks from the area and to stay away from the South Channel.
