Eveleth, MN (NNCNOW.com) - A fire at the United Taconite Thunderbird mine in Eveleth Sunday evening had Firefighters from across the Iron Range battling the blaze for hours.

According to officials with Cliffs Natural Resources, a 240-ton production truck caught fire around 6 p.m. while in operation.

The operator made it out of the truck without injury.

Emergency crews had to block off sections of road during the firefight.

Cliffs officials say they believe the fire was out by about 8:30 p.m.

There is no word yet on the cause of the fire or damage estimates, but Cliffs says the truck is out of operation.
