Washington, D.C. (NNCNOW.com) - Hunters and anglers are helping Minnesota's economy reel in big dollars.
New numbers from the Congressional Sportsmen's Foundation show 1.65 million outdoors men and women helped support the economy in 2011.
That's nearly doubles the populations of Minneapolis, St. Paul, Rochester and Duluth combined.
The data says outdoors people spent more than $3 billion in 2011, helping support nearly 48,000 jobs in the state.
The people behind the study say the numbers prove how vital hunting and fishing are to the state and country.
