Grand Rapids, MN (Northland's NewsCenter) -- 32-year-old Keegan Patrick Morin of Grand Rapids has pleaded guilty to a felony crime of Domestic Assault based on allegations that he caused multiple injuries to his live-in girlfriend's two year old son.
The incident occurred at their residence on April 4 and April 5, 2012.
The criminal complaint states that law enforcement received a report of child abuse at a Grand Rapids residence.
An officer on scene says that severe bruising was apparent on the child's face, as well as dried blood and small cuts around his mouth.
The child was transported to the Grand Itasca emergency room and officers observed bruising on his arms, torso, legs, groin, and buttocks.
An officer also noted scratches on the child's arm, chest, and groin.
The toddler was then taken by helicopter to a Duluth hospital.
The treating physician in Duluth indicated that the child's injuries coincide with child abuse.
Morin states that the child's facial injuries occurred on April 4 at 2:30 p.m. while the toddler's mother was at work.
Morin says that he was cleaning up the child in the shower when it's arm got caught in the shower curtain, which caused the shower curtain rod to fall.
Morin says that the curtain rod struck the toddler in the back of the head and then the child fell face first into the bathtub, according to the criminal complaint.
Records show that Morin was convicted of Domestic Assault in 2005.
Records also show that Morin pleaded guilty to a felony in the fifth degree of a Controlled Substance.
Morin will be sentenced April 29.
