Man To Serve 90 Days in Jail After Hit and Run

Itasca County, MN (Northland's NewsCenter) --- A Hibbing man who hit a pedestrian and fled the scene has been sentenced to one year in jail.

46 year old Michael John Estey has been sentenced to one year in jail, all but 90 days of which has been suspended. Estey will remain on probation for 2 years.

Back on July 29th, Estey struck a jogger on County Rd 5 north of Effie. Estey stopped at the scene and asked a witness what he hit and then took off.

Estey pleaded guilty to charges of leaving the scene of an accident, failure to give notice of a personal injury accident, and violating a restriction on his driver's license.

He was later arrested at a nearby campground.
