Aurora, MN (NNCNOW.com) --- A Hoyt Lakes man was airlifted to Duluth in critical condition after he was thrown off his ATV in Aurora on Tuesday.

The St. Louis County Sheriff's Office responded to the scene after a passerby found an unresponsive man lying in the street near the ATV and called 911.

Authorities say it appears that 43 year old Mark Anderson lost control of the ATV after exiting a ditch near the intersection of Central Avenue East and Main Street in Aurora and was thrown from the vehicle.

Anderson was transported to the Northern Pines Medical Center and then later airlifted in critical condition to Essentia Health St. Mary's Medical Center in Duluth.

Hoyt Lakes Ambulance, Aurora First Responders, Life Link Air Medical, Hoyt Lakes Police and Gilbert Police all responded to the scene.
