The cost of a gallon of regular self-serve gasoline jumped to $4.19 a gallon at several service stations Tuesday across the Northland.
Viewers say they saw prices jump in Carlton, Duluth, Virginia, Esko, Superior, International Falls, and Lake Nebagamon.
The last record high gas price in Minnesota was $3.98 on July 16th, 2008.
According to AAA, we will hit an all time record across Minnesota with gas prices topping off between $4.10 and $4.20.
AAA said two of America's largest refineries, BP & Exxon have shut down as the companies switch from winter to summer-time fuel mixes.
The shutdown could last until the end of June, possibly July 4th.
According to numbers released today by AAA, nationally the average price was just $3.58 cents a gallon.
