Duluth, MN (NNCNOW.com) - The vice president of Mills Fleet Farm said, "It's time to get off the bench."

Stewart Mills announced plans to file paperwork to explore a bid for the 8th District Congressional seat on Wednesday.

Representative Rick Nolan, defeated Chip Cravaack for the 8th district seat in November 2012.

He'll be up for reelection in 2014.

As a non-traditional Republican, Mills said Washington needs the perspective of small business owners in the private sector.

"I know, through my lifelong involvement, and my family's business the hurdles, barriers and handicaps that are placed upon us in job creation through the government," said Mills during a trip to Duluth.

Mills said he plans to run a grass roots model.
