Ely, MN (NNCNow.com) - Voters in Ely brought change to the town last week, voting out incumbent Mayor Roger Skraba and voting in newcomer Ross Petersen.

This will be Petersen's first time holding public office. Petersen is a small business owner in Ely.

He says that he thinks it's important to work on encouraging small businesses and individuals to move to Ely.

"Ely has so much going for it," Petersen said, "People that have their own job or small business really have to give us a look."

Petersen was elected over Skraba by nearly 400 votes.
