Over $400,000 pledged to United Way from Cliff's Natural Resources

Duluth, MN (NNCNOW.com) --- The United Way is receiving quite the gift from Cliff's Natural Resources.

The company today announced that their employee's in Minnesota have pledged $283,995 to the 2013-2014 Northeastern Minnesota and Duluth Area United Way campaigns.

Cliff's is matching that donation by 50 percent, making the total amount pledged to the United Way $433,187.

“This is just another example of how committed our employees are to their communities,” said Sandy Karnowski, district manager of public affairs for Cliffs in Minnesota. “The United Way is an excellent organization that provides financial support and programs to non-profit groups in the areas that surround our operations, so we are pleased that our employees choose to support their efforts in a big way year after year.”

Cliff's spokespeople say the company's mines have also provided $4,250 in local sponsorships for United Way activities, and $7,344 in contributions through the Cliffs Foundation putting the total contribution to Northeastern Minnesota and Duluth Area United Way to more than $444,000 between 2013-2014.
