May 8, 2013 Updated May 8, 2013 at 2:10 PM CDT

St. Paul, MN (NNCNOW.com) - The Minnesota Senate is expected to vote on the Marriage Equality bill on Monday, should the House of Representatives approve it Thursday.

Governor Mark Dayton has also said he would sign the bill into law, which would allow same–sex couples to get married starting August first.

The Senate will not be in session on Saturday, May 11th, as several members will be attending a funeral for Sen. Ruud's mother.
