Update: Pilot in Grand Rapids Plane Crash in Good Condition

Grand Rapids, MN (NNCNOW.com) --- The pilot who was sent to the hospital following a plane crash near Grand Rapids on Tuesday is in good condition.

Spokespeople at Essentia St. Mary's say 71 year old Gerard Dale Pearson is in good condition and is expected to go home sometime today.

On Tuesday, authorities responded to the report that a float plane had crashed into Shoal Lake around 5pm and was partially submerged underwater.

Pearson, the only occupant of the plane was rescued from the aircraft and taken to the Grand Itasca Medical Center. He was later airlifted to the Miller Dwan Intensive Care in Duluth.

Authorities are still investigating the cause of the plane crash.
