Ely, MN (NNCNOW.com) --- A proposal submitted by the Trail Prospectors Alliance could create a 130 mile ATV trail that would connect Ely, Babbitt, Tower and Embarrass.

Alliance board members say this connection would provide opportunities for destination riding in the Northland, and retailers in the area say the trail would boost the local economy.

"It's a lot more enjoyable, and a lot more fun when you can go from A to B and make a whole day, make a big loop out of it, rather than sitting in a little park and maybe just going around in circles. Destination riding is a lot more fun and you hit a lot more businesses. It brings a lot more people to the area," said Lee Branville of Five Seasons Sports Center in Eveleth.

The proposed trail would also connect Vermillion State Park and Bear Head State Park.

The trail has yet to be approved by the DNR.
