Proposed plan calls for $9.5 million Hibbing hotel

Hibbing, MN (NNCNOW.com) - Hibbing could soon be home to a new multi-million dollar hotel.

Plans call for the former Ogle's Family Foods store, near the Irongate Plaza, to be demolished in December to make way for an 80-room, three-story Hampton Inn and Suites Hotel.

Duluth-based ZMC Hotels is behind the $9.5 million project which needs approval from the Hibbing City Council, Economic Development Authority and IRRRB.

Construction could begin as early as next spring, with a New Year's Eve 2015 opening.

Officials say the hotel could bring 20 new jobs to the area.
