BWCA (NNCNOW.com) - Significant rain helped douse flames burning in the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Thursday night.

The Forest Service says the remaining fire, the Knife Lake Fire, has scorched nearly 190 acres.

Firefighters were able to suppress the fire and are now beginning to mop up along control lines.

Officials lifted the closures of campsites, waterways and portages around Knife Lake Friday night.
