Remer, MN (Northland's NewsCenter) - Murder charges have been filed against the 60-year-old Remer, Minnesota woman whose husband was found dead last Saturday.

According to a criminal complaint, Helene Abraham allegedly struck and killed her estranged husband, 64-year-old Wendell 'Doc' Abraham, with her car, following an argument.

The complaint says Helene then dragged her husband's body behind the car to a wooded area, where she covered it with leaves. She eventually brought it back to their home.

Authorities discovered the body Saturday after a welfare check on the home.

The Cass County Attorney says Helene had fled to Mankato where authorities took her into custody on Tuesday. The complaint says she admitted to striking and killer husband, but told officers it was an accident.

In a taped statement, Helene's sister of Storm Lake, Iowa told authorities that Helene called her on September 23rd to tell her she had just killed her husband.

Helene Abraham is being held on $500,000 bail on a charge of 2nd degree intentional murder. She could face up to 40years behind bars. She'll be back in court on October 18th at 9 a.m.

An autopsy shows Wendall received multiple traumatic injuries in the incident.
