(Northland's NewsCenter)---Motorists should expect delays and detours throughout parts of the Northland starting Monday morning.

The northbound Interstate 535 on-ramp over southbound Garfield Avenue in Duluth will be closed for maintenance Monday, from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

Nighttime ramp closures on Interstate 35 in Duluth will allow road crews to repave the road.

The ramp from northbound Interstate 35 to Mesaba Avenue, Superior Street and Michigan Street will be closed each night from 7 p.m. until 5 a.m. through Thursday May, 31.

Superior Street between 5th Avenue West and 11th Avenue West is restricted to a single lane.

Single-lane, head-to-head traffic between Highway 45 in Scanlon and Larson Road just south of Highway 61 in Esko begins May, 29.

Detour routes will be clearly marked.

Motorists driving along Highway 53 in Cotton will encounter lane closures through late August.

Crews will build a new intersection designed to improve safety and reduce crashes.

Four miles of Highway 53 will be resurfaced to provide smoother and safer roads.

The Paleface River Bridge will be re-decked and coated with epoxy chip seal to provide better skid resistance.

Access to all Cotton businesses will be maintained during and after construction.
