St. Paul, MN (NNCNOW.com) - A measure legalizing medical marijuana passed another hurdle at the Minnesota State Capitol on Tuesday.
The Senate Committee on State and Local Government approved the bill providing access to medical marijuana for people with debilitating medical conditions.
The Minnesota Department of Health would issue medical marijuana ID cards to patients and establish a tightly regulated system of alternative treatment centers and quality control labs.
The next test for the bill comes Wednesday in the Senate Judiciary Committee.
A companion bill in the House, approved in March, remains stalled in the legislature.
