McKinley, MN (NNCNOW.com) --- The skeletal remains found in McKinley back on May 11 have been identified as those of missing New York man, Barnabas R. Kalina, Jr.

The St. Louis County Chief Medical Examiner identified the remains through dental x-rays.

The cause of death is undetermined at this time, but authorities say there appeared to be no signs of trauma to the skeletal remains.

Back in May a neighbor walking through the area near a mine dump in McKinley found the remains and called authorities. The St Louis County Sheriff's Office said at that time that personal belongings, including ID's, found near the remains indicate they belong to a man from New York.

The man was never reported missing and authorities believe he had been in the area since the fall of 2011.

The ST. Louis County Sheriff's Office is looking for the public's help in finding out what brought Kalina to the area. If you have any information, contact them at 218-749-7134.
