Duluth, MN (NNCnow.com) - St. Louis County Board Chair Chris Dahlberg has officially started his run for U.S. Senate, trying to unseat current incumbent Sen. Al Franken.

As Dahlberg stood on a porch in New Brighton, Minn. on Thursday he explained that his campaign will have an emphasis on "Front Porch Leadership", and will shy away from the old approaches used by Republicans.

Chris Dahlberg has been serving on the St. Louis County Board since 2008, and was reelected in 2012. He currently serves as the Chair of the largest U.S. County east of the Mississippi River.

Dahlberg is also the only Republican Candidate running for U.S. Senate outside of the metro area.
