Duluth, MN (NNCNOW.com) - St. Louis County leaders have suspended strike preparations a day after agreeing to a compromise over sick leave pay with union members.

AFSCME notified county negotiators Monday night it will present the latest contract offer to employees for a vote on September 12th.

"While we recognize that employees could legally strike as early as this Friday, we expect they would not do so now that a new offer reflecting the union's bargaining position has been put forward and a vote scheduled," said County Administrator Kevin Gray.

1,000 county employees are members of the Civil Service and Merit System Basic Units.
