Iron, MN (Northland's NewsCenter) - St. Louis County teachers who have gone a year without a new contract got a show of support Wednesday during a rally on the Iron Range.
In addition to several state legislators, Education Minnesota President Tom Dooher attended the rally, speaking out on behalf of the teachers.
Dooher says that it's rare for contract negotiations to last this long.
He says the primary reason a contract settlement hasn't been reached is because there is no deadline to reach an agreement.
Representatives from the St. Louis County teachers union say that going this long without a new contract is tough on moral for teachers.
According to Education Minnesota, St. Louis County is one of about 20 districts throughout the state that hasn't reached a new contract agreement.
