Duluth, MN (NNCNOW.com) - Some of Minnesota's US lawmakers are speaking out in support of the US Department of Commerce's recent decision on illegal foreign steel dumping.
Earlier this week, the US Department of Commerce found nine countries are illegally dumping steel goods into the US that are used in oil and gas fracking drilling.
Democratic US Senator Al Franken made a statement on the ruling this weekend, saying he's pleased with the ruling, and has been pressing to keep unfair trade practices that harm Minnesota steel jobs in check.
Democratic US Senator Amy Klobuchar says the ruling should go further, and recommends that the Commerce Department impose significant penalties on unfair foreign competition.
More than two thousand workers in the mining and steel sectors on the Iron Range came together last month to demand action to save jobs.
