Update: Crews Continue to Restore Power

April 16, 2012 Updated Apr 17, 2012 at 8:51 AM CST

Grand Rapids, MN (Northland's NewsCenter) -- Around 4,500 people remain without power, throughout the Grand Rapids and Mountain Iron service areas.

Line crews worked through the night to restore power for Lake Country Power members. Crews were able to restore power for 2,500 members throughout the Grand Rapids and Mountain Iron rural service areas.

The restoration efforts have been slower than anticipated due to the poor driving conditions, the number of trees that have fallen onto power lines and the amount of power lines that need to be restrung.

Areas still affected include Side Lake, Cook, Orr, Ely, Blackberry, Remer, Cohasset, East Bass Lake, Amen Lake Road, and Pug Hole Lake.

Lake Country Power line crews will remain working to restore service.

Outside crews called in to assist from East Central Energy, Mille Lacs Energy and Lake States Construction will help Lake Country Power crews restore power.
