Virginia, MN (NNCNOW.com) --- The Virginia Public Utilities Commission has confirmed that an "intent to strike" notice was filed by the union representing the utility workers on Tuesday.

The union has approximately 65 members and is currently in a 10-day "cooling off" period before any strike could happen.

General Manager Greg French of the Virginia Public Utilities says they are in mediation with the union and will hold a closed door session between management and representatives next Friday.

At this point French says he's confident there will be no strike.
