Younger Brother Shot in Duck Hunting Accident

Iron, MN (Northland's NewsCenter) --- An Iron Range boy is suffering from a gunshot wound after being shot in the knee by his older brother during a hunting accident in Iron, Minnesota, Friday.

St. Louis County Sherriff authorities say the two brothers and another man were duck hunting out of a canoe on Elbow Lake when a flock of ducks flew over their heads.

When the hunters stood up in the canoe to shoot, the craft rolled and took on water.

Bryten Felix, 18, of Eveleth, fell backwards and tried to catch himself, but the shotgun he was holding discharged, firing a shot in his brother’s knee.

Baker Felix, 16, of Eveleth, was taken by Virginia ambulance to Essentia St. Mary’s hospital in Duluth.

He is in stable condition.

Olaf Walkky, 18, of Britt, MN was also in the canoe during the accident.

The accident happened Friday around 7:30 a.m.

The Virginia St. Louis County Sheriff’s Office continues to investigate.
