As the flu continues to grip the nation, it's not letting up on the state of Minnesota either.

The number of deaths relating to the flu has doubled since last week.

The Minnesota Department of Heath confirms thirty-three flu-related deaths last week, which brings the state total to sixty deaths since the flu season started.

476 people were hospitalized with confirmed flu cases last week.
Almost two-thousand people have been hospitalized with the illness since the season started.

Closer to home, Essentia-St. Mary's hospital confirms there are four people currently hospitalized with confirmed cases of the flu, while seven are awaiting test results.

There have been nine deaths; all have been elderly with underlying health conditions.
