Duluth, MN (NNCNOW.com) --- Theft of at least $10,000 in ginseng causes a 20–year harvest ban to be set, Joanne M. Haas of the DNR Bureau of Law Enforcement reports.

Haas also says the DNR Warden said the man wore camouflage and parked a vehicle at cemeteries/rest areas, while harvesting the plant without permission of the DNR.

A Trempealeau County, WI man now needs to pay nearly $4,000 in restitution after it was discovered he had illegally harvested at least $10,000 worth of wild ginseng; he is also on a 20–year harvest ban.

The Wisconsin man was found guilty of eight counts of harvesting ginseng without landowner permission.
