Fire Destroys Poplar Home

By KBJR News 1

Good evening.
I'm Julie Pearce.
A Douglas County couple lost their house to a structure fire this morning in Poplar.

Fire officials responded to the blaze at 8897 E. Middle Lake Rd. to find the house fully engulfed.

The Poplar & Hawthorne fire department was called in for backup.

Chief Wade Hill is calling the fire a complete loss, "We got the call, we had the fire knocked down in about 10 minutes, the rest of the time we were just overhauling and putting out the hotspots."

No one was injured in the fire, but a couple of pets were lost in the blaze.

Early indications appear the fire started around a woodstove, but an investigation is ongoing.

The Northland Chapter of the Red Cross is providing the residents with temporary lodging and assistance.
