DECC Summit Focused On Early Care, Education, & School Readiness

By KBJR News 1

An early childhood summit at the DECC Tuesday afternoon brought together more than 200 teachers and administrators from more than two dozen northeastern Minnesota School districts.

The focus was on early care, education, and school readiness.
The early years in a child's life are part of a critical window for growth and development.

In fact, some educators believe it's the first five years that set a foundation for lifelong learning and success.

"We need to take and help young children to prepare to really have those opportunities to develop in a healthy way and in a supportive way."

The summit was hosted by the Northland Foundation, which advocates for school readiness of children five and under, and helps to promote the healthy social and emotional development of infants and toddlers.
