UMD Holds Gun Violence Protest

By KBJR News 1

Nearly 30 individuals laid down at UMD today to take a stand against gun violence.

The "Brady Campaign" and dozens of "Million Mom March" chapters across the country organized the protest and the goal was quite clear.

"To do something to honor the victims and to encourage our country to do something about the continued gun violence especially in college and high school shootings."

30,000 people in the U-S are killed by guns each year.

Organizers of today's protest say Gun violence can be reduced by requiring mandatory reports of lost or stolen guns, background checks, and safe gun storage.
