Duluth, MN (NNCNOW.com) - Superior Street in downtown Duluth looked more like a river Tuesday night thanks to a water main break.
Officials say the culprit is a 16" pipe from 1887.
Duluth Police say the break happened between 1st Avenue West and Lake near Minnesota Power.
Eastbound Superior Street between 1st Avenue West and Lake Avenue will remain closed through at least Wednesday morning.
Crews will be working through the night to repair and clean up the street.
Dan Berg, Utilities Operations Supervisor for the City of Duluth says the burst was most likely caused by fluctuating temperatures which could have caused some pressure to the main line.
Officials hope to have the road repaired by Thursday, but it's up in the air as crews continue to investigate the damages.
