Tour Boats To Return To Voyageurs National Park

By KBJR News 1

Funding has been approved to return tour boat service to Voyageurs National Park.

The National Park Service announced that it will spend $1.4 million to build a new 49-passenger tour boat.

It is scheduled to be launched for its first tour in 2010.

Voyageurs has not had regular tour boat services for over a decade.

MN Congressman James Oberstar worked with a broad-based group of partners to help secure funding for the boat.

The new 49-passenger tour boat is 50 feet long and will run on the latest “green” technology.

It will be equipped with highly efficient engines that operate on bio-diesel fuel.
