18-year-old Ashland woman killed in head-on collision in Maple

Maple, WI (NNCNOW.com) --- An 18–year–old Ashland woman was killed early Saturday morning after the car in which he was the passenger crashed head–on into a logging truck near Maple.

According to the Douglas County Sheriff's Office, the crash happened just before 5:15 Saturday morning on US Highway 2 near the Olson Road.

A Ford Focus, driven by a 43–year–old Ashland man with the 18–year–old passenger, was heading westbound when it crossed the center line and struck a logging truck head–on.

The truck was being driven by a 51–year–old Maple man, with a 29–year–old female passenger.

The 18–year–old woman was pronounced dead at the scene. The 29–year–old woman was taken to an area hospital.

Neither driver reported any injuries.

Authorities have not yet identified anyone in the accident, but say more information will be released Sunday.
