Earth Tracks at Zoo Inspires Youth

By KBJR News 1

It's today's children who are destined to inherit tomorrow's earth.

As part of the fifth annual Earth Tracks Event, nearly 12- hundred students from around the Twin Ports took part in the environmental awareness field day.

It's geared to educate, inspire, and empower the minds of our youth.

Leslie Larson with the Lake Superior Zoo says its important because, "they're the ones coming into this planet and we need to help them learn now that the earth is sensitive, and that everything they do is going to have an impact on those things around them."

And, that knowledge is making an impact, "If somebody trusts the world, what would you want to do, clean, recycle."

Another youngster says, "we have to take care of the earth."

Her friend agrees adding, ""So the animals live cleaner."

The event also showcased environmentally-friendly businesses and organizations from around the area.
