Duluth, MN (Northlands NewsCenter)
-- In 2012, seven are dead from trespassing on rail road property, and another seven fatalities occurred at rail road crossings.

The Minnesota Department of Transportation wants to remind people that using common sense around rail road tracks can save your life.

Remember to always obey signs and crossing gates and never stop a car on the tracks.

Trains moves fast and according to MN DOT, they can sneak up on pedestrians.

"Trains are moving faster and they are generally close than your eyes will tell you they are so always, don't take any chances, don't make a deadly mistake," said Beth Petrowske at MN DOT.

This year, two people in the Northland have died in train related accidents.
