Hoyt Lakes Man Wins Big On National Wrestling Program

By KBJR Manager

A Hoyt Lakes man won 175-thousand dollars on Monday.

The award was part of a W-W-E wrestling promotion.

Chris Buckley talked to the disabled veteran about getting that winning phone call.

26-year old Kyle Mathisen is a lifelong wrestling fan... who signed up to participate in the "McMahon's Million Dollar Mania" giveaway.

Just two weeks in it paid off big, and on Monday, Mathisen got a phone call from WWE chairman Vince McMahon.

"When I got that call from Salt Lake City, Utah which is where they were, my heart basically leapt out of my throat and hit the ceiling."

Mathisen returned to his hometown of Hoyt Lakes after being honorably discharged from the Navy.

Following a head injury during training.

"I'm pretty well recovered, my neck still does bother me when I work hard or make a long drive, things like that."

Mathisen says after taxes he'll receive about 110-thousand dollars...

A big payoff for a fan who's been watching professional wrestling for as long as he can remember.

"The first match I remember was January 23rd 1984, Hulk Hogan beat the Iron Shiek for the title and the word that stuck in my head, which I think are the most important words in pro wrestling, were said by the late Gorilla Monsoon: those words were 'Hulkamania is here' and I've been hooked ever since. I guess I just have to say, in Vince we trust."

Mathisen says he'll use the money to pay off some debt... and buy the home in Hoyt Lakes he grew up in.

For Range 11, I'm Chris Buckley.

McMahon is giving away millions of dollars from his personal bank account to show his appreciation for loyal W-W-E fans.
