Cloquet, MN (NNCNOW.com) --- U.S. Senator Amy Klobuchar is teaming up with veteran affairs specialists to ensure vets get the maximum benefits and support they've earned.
As part of the Veterans Outreach Staff Tour, workshops were held in Cloquet, Virginia and Grand Rapids on Tuesday.
Those at the sessions got a chance to talk with specialists about available health care services, educational benefits and job opportunities.
Tom Willette, a disabled Vietnam veteran, says these one stop shopping events are valuable for vets to help them figure out which benefits they qualify for.
"Vets need to work closely with some of the organizations, like the VFW and the American Legion and the Disabled Vets in order to get the benefits that they deserve, and the benefits they should be getting,” Willeltte said.
Event organizers say these events are not just for recent vets.
If a National Guard veteran, from as far back as the Vietnam era, has developed a hearing problem or other disability, spokespeople encourage them to see if they qualify for disability compensation.
