Duluth, MN (NNCNOW.com) --- A 21 year old man has been charged for allegedly throwing Molotov cocktails from the roof of the Shanty Bottle Shop in Duluth on Tuesday.
Casey James Hollis of Duluth has been charged with Possession of an Explosive/Incendiary Device, 1st Degree Criminal Damage to Property, and Disorderly Conduct.
According to the criminal complaint, authorities responded to a call of someone throwing Molotov cocktails from the roof of the bottle shop along the 1200 Block of East 4th Street. Witnesses said that they could see flames in the street and in the parking lot.
One of the officers on the scene was able to approach the rear of the building and made contact with the suspect.
Hollis was taken into custody without incident.
Hollis later allegedly told police that he had manufactured the Molotov cocktails at his home and that he never intended to harm anyone or damage property. Hollis told authorities that he would harm himself before ever harming anyone else.
Hollis also allegedly admitted that he kicked the light at the bottle shop and broke it. A vent on the top of the roof was also damaged in the incident. None of the property sustained fire damage from the explosion of the Molotov cocktails.
During a search of the suspect's residence, authorities found a five gallon bucket filled with gasoline that Hollis allegedly used to fill the bottles to manufacture the Molotov cocktails.
