Rutledge, MN (NNCNOW.com) --- A 22 year old man died over the weekend after his snowmobile left the trail and hit a tree in Pine County, MN.

The Pine County Sheriff's Office received a call on Sunday around 3:30pm of a snowmobile accident along the Willard Munger Trail just south of Rutledge, MN.

The caller reported that the person operating the snowmobile was lying in the ditch and was unresponsive.

Good Samaritans on snowmobiles had to drive emergency responders to the scene of the accident. When officers found the victim, they say he showed no signs of life and was pronounced dead at the scene.

A preliminary investigation revealed that the victim, identified as Jordan Daniel Mutschler, left the trail and hit a tree, however the no one in Mutschler's riding party saw the accident happen.

Statements indicate that alcohol may have played a role in this accident.
