Franken Makes Stop In Duluth

By KBJR News 1

U.S. Senate candidate Al Franken made a campaign stop in Duluth Thursday.

Franken spoke on London Road about high energy prices, the war in Iraq and how incumbent Norm Coleman supports the war and big oil.

"Norm Coleman was asked two weeks ago, 'if you knew than what you know now about the war in Iraq, would you change your support for it,' and he went, 'ahhh no no.' That shocked me, frankly."

Franken, who in most polls trails the incumbent Norm Coleman by a slim margin, says Coleman's energy policies are out of touch and hurt the middle class.

"Norm Coleman has come up with a plan which is basically to drill on the outer continental shelf, and the White House says, the Bush White House says that this will not bring down or effect the price of oil until 2030 that's the Bush white house, so Norm Coleman's plan is just for everyone to stick it out for 22 years."

Franken's next stop is in Hibbing where he will again be talking about energy prices.
