Lincoln Park Clean Street Sweep

By KBJR News 1

The Lincoln Park neighborhood in Duluth is getting a make-over.

Business owners and area residents gathered today to begin the Lincoln Park Clean Sweep.

The Lincoln Park Business Group was given a $1,500 grant from the Keep America Beautiful Inc. Program.

The Duluth Local Initiatives Support Corporation matched that grant.

"The money will go towards our streetscape beautification fund. So with this fund we plan on planting more trees, planting more flowers, getting holiday banners, getting some more some more garbage cans for the area and basically just use this fund as an ongoing effort to beautify our streetscape here in Lincoln Park," said Heath Hickok, executive director of Lincoln Park Business Group.

The volunteers swept debris into the streets in preparation for a street sweeper.

The Business Group plans to place cigarette butt receptacles throughout the area.

It also plans on buying 1,000 pocket ash trays.
