Train derails in Cass County, causing several days of clean-up efforts.

Cass County, MN (NNCNOW.com) --- Clean-up efforts are underway after train derailment in Cass County, Sunday night.

The Cass County Sheriff's Office responded to a train derailment west of Pillager near County Road 101 around 11:45p.m.Sunday.

When authorities arrived on scene, they found a BNSF train that had been traveling westbound had derailed, affecting fifty train cars carrying coal.

Intersections at Bigwater Drive SW at County Road 101 and Bigwater Drive SW at Arrowhead Dr. SW are currently closed, while cleanup and realignment efforts are underway.

No injuries were reported and the accident did not involve any hazardous materials. Sheriff Burch urges citizens to stay away from the affected area over the next several days as crews continue to clean up.

The derailment is under investigation with Cass County Sheriff's Office and BNSF officials.
