Murphy Oil Deal Not Dead

By KBJR News 1

Since the beginning of the year, Murphy Oil has been working on a plan for a multi - billion dollar expansion in Superior.

If it happens it would be the biggest private industry expansion the Midwest has seen in twenty years.

Recently concerns have surfaced that the 6 billion dollar project would not continue due to difficulty in finding a partner for financial support.

Jim Kowitz of Murphy Oil confirmed Monday, however, that the project is still on the drawing board.

He says the current oil market has made it more difficult to find a partner but the hope of expanding Murphy oil is still strong.

If the deal goes ahead it would create up to 4,000 construction jobs for up to two years, and up to 400 high-paying permanent jobs.
