King Of Movie Trailers Dies

By KBJR News 1

After voicing 5,000 movie, video game and television trailers, The king of the movie trailers has died.

Duluth native Don LaFontaine died yesterday at age 68.

LaFontaine graduated from Central High School in 1958.

He died at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles of complications from a collapsed lung.

You've likely heard LaFontaine's booming voice on movie trailers such as 'the Terminator,' 'Batman Returns,' and 'The Simpsons Movie.'

"When I was thirteen years old my voice changed in the middle of a sentence, 'Mom I'll help you with the dishes'...literally and It never went back. And I was just cut up in class and when I went to school the next day I didn't want to talk. And the teacher got bugged about it and she said "why aren't you saying anything," and I said "What do you want me to say?" LaFontaine said.

The voice legend is survived by his three children, and actress wife Nita Whitaker.
