Superior Fire Department Receives Grant

By KBJR News 1

The Superior Fire Department has received federal homeland security dollars for re-powering a fire-rescue boat.

The $26,000 fund will pay for an engine upgrade on the watercraft.
In addition to this money, Superior Fire Chief Tad Matheson says two more grants are in the works for city firefighters.
One is from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security.

"This particular grant is going to be used to help upgrade our repeater system for our radios so the firefighters will have better communication and help with inner operability and that grant is going to be for $96,000," said Matheson.

Matheson says the Superior Fire Department is also going to receive a 35-hundred dollar grant for dive-team training.
