Xcel Energy announced plans Tuesday to drastically reduce global warming, water, and air pollution by converting the Bay Front coal-fired power plant in Ashland to burn 100 percent biomass, a cleaner burning alternative to coal.
When completed, the Bay Front plant will be the largest biomass power plant in the Midwest.
