The Democratic and Republican nominees on the presidential ticket squared-off tonight for the second time and the whole nation watched as the countdown until November Fourth continues.
Tonight, Al Franken, Minnesota Democratic Candidate for U.S. Senate held a debate viewing party at the College of St. Scholastica.
But as Joel Runck tells us, it wasn't just Democrats that showed-up.

You might think a presidential debate viewing party organized by the Franken campaign would only draw democratic supporters.
But Republican Robb Correia, sophomore student at St. Scholastica, said it's critical to hear what the other side of the ticket has to say before making a decision.

"I just wanted to kind of come and hear Franken in-person and kind of see what he's bringing to the table and bringing to the ticket and here what he has to say," Correia said.

Franken advised students to do their homework before they make a decision on the presidential and senatorial candidates.

"This is just an unbelievable civics lesson and I expect both men to do a good job they're both really smart guys," Fraken said.

Liz MacGregor, St. Scholastica freshan and Franken supporter says she's wants to know how the current economic crisis is going to affect her education.

"Beyond taxes, I want to know what's going to happen with tuition, with healthcare, I want to know more specifically how our future is going to look one way or the other," she said.

Putting partisan politics aside, students that came to watch the debate seemed to reach an accord on one specific item.

"If you're over 18, you need to vote, it's very important, you know whether you're going to vote Democrat, Republican, Independent-doesn't matter," said Correia.

MacGregor agrees.

"Putting this up on the big screen really does bring home the fact that this is our future, this is our nature this isn't you know just nighttime entertainment this is all something that we need to be really concerned about," she said.
