'How To Play The Game'

By KBJR News 1

While athletics can be attributed to many health benefits, two Duluth natives say sports have helped them attain lifelong goals.
A set of 58-year-old twin brothers put together a documentary portraying their lives through games.
As Joel Runck tells us, the experience was far-more than child's play.

'How the Game is Played."
A documentary film of Duluth natives Stewart and Steven Peterson.
The 40-minute show depicts the lessons the twins learned from playing sports during the 1950s, and 60s in Northern Minnesota.

"We played sports since we were little kids all the way up through college," said Stewart Peterson. " What we learned was perseverance, teamwork, discipline and hard work pays-off."

The pay-off has helped Stewart become a pharmacist and Steve a Physician.

"Sports is very instrumental in helping you develop self-esteem," said Steven Peterson.

The Peterson brothers say the lessons they've learned through athletics can be incorporated into everyday life.

"The teamwork is also a very big factor, you use that in the workplace, you use it in everyday life and one of the things that we're lacking in this day in age," said Stewart.

The twins say the movie took about two months to complete.
Dozens of people were in attendance to see the film, but Stewart says the motion picture is intended primarily for kids.

"Our main goal is to teach the younger generation how important it is to play sports and be active," said Stewart.

Both brothers say the film teaches youth how to play the most important game--the game of life.

The Peterson twins say they hope to distribute the documentary to schools and youth organizations across the country.
