Recovery work to three transformers destroyed in an explosion Halloween night in downtown Duluth will begin in the next few days.
A Minnesota Power Spokesperson says the accident was a surprise, as the vault in which the explosion occurred was inspected at nine Halloween morning.
Crews will inspect and analyze the other three vaults within the city as part of investigating the cause.
The explosion sent a fireball high in the sky and dislodged some vault covers.
No city property was damaged, however almost 600 Minnesota Power customers were without power for a short period of time.
The damage estimate for Minnesota Power is $250,000.
